John Schneider, MD, FAPA
WPA President, 2019-2021

Dear Colleagues,

Thanks to all who participated in our first virtual membership check-in meeting held earlier this month. WPA is working to provide more virtual programming for members that will offer timely and relevant updates and will allow sharing of information among members.

Our next event will be a one-hour webinar on May 28th during which panel presenters will discuss the approaches taken within their health systems in response to COVID-19, and will provide practical tips for managing your practice during these difficult times. Please register here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing login instructions to join the webinar.

Amidst COVID-19 and always, I urge you to stay informed with WPA and APA advocacy efforts. One simple approach is to make sure you are signed up to receive APA’s Advocacy Alerts, which are timely updates on current issues that affect our practice and our patients, including Telehealth, Liability, Scope, Reimbursement, PPE, Patient Safety, Patient Privacy, and more. These alerts will inform you when your state or federal lawmakers need to hear from you.  Also, please consider participating in APA’s Congressional Advocacy Network (CAN) (APA website login required). Through this political grassroots network, APA member advocates connect with members of Congress to ensure that legislation is informed by constituent psychiatrists.

Thanks for your continued membership and help advocating for psychiatry and our patients. As always, please contact me with your ideas and comments.
