WPA Joins Wisconsin Good Samaritan Coalition to Support Overdose Prevention Efforts

11 Dec 2025 9:51 AM | Anonymous

The Wisconsin Psychiatric Association (WPA) is proud to announce its support for the Wisconsin Good Samaritan Coalition, joining a statewide effort to prevent overdose deaths and strengthen community safety.

Partners and supporters of the Good Samaritan policy initiative recognize the urgent need to reduce overdose fatalities across Wisconsin. They also understand that arrest, prosecution, and revocation can further destabilize individuals struggling with substance use disorders—often resulting in job loss, increased desperation, and a higher risk of future legal or health crises.

By signing on, WPA stands with organizations committed to advancing compassionate, evidence-based policies that protect individuals seeking lifesaving help during an overdose emergency.

Coalition partners engage in a range of activities, including public education, advocacy, and lobbying. They may offer testimony at the Capitol, participate in community outreach, and support other statewide efforts to advance Good Samaritan protections.

WPA is honored to join this collaborative initiative and will continue advocating for policies that promote safety, recovery, and wellbeing for individuals and families across Wisconsin.
