The conference brought together mental health professionals for an engaging exploration of treatment resistance in psychiatry and the challenges clinicians face when standard interventions do not achieve desired outcomes.

Through expert presentations and thoughtful discussion, attendees examined strategies for recognizing and assessing treatment-resistant conditions, reconsidering diagnoses, optimizing therapeutic approaches, and incorporating innovative treatment options. The program emphasized the importance of a comprehensive, patient-centered approach that integrates biological, psychological, and social factors to improve outcomes and support long-term recovery. We appreciate everyone who contributed to the meaningful conversations and shared commitment to advancing psychiatric care across Wisconsin.

WPA was thrilled to award Governor Tony Evers with the 2026 Friend of WPA at the Fall Conference. The Friend of WPA Award is presented every other year to someone, often a Wisconsin legislator, who has been a champion for advancing mental health care, or for efforts aimed at advocating for patients with mental illness.
