John Schneider, MD

As we rapidly approach the Winter Solstice, or the day the “Sun stands still” before the “return of the light,” I can’t help but reflect on the past year(s).  Rather than boring you with a President’s Column that is filled with a reductive pontification of obtuse navel gazing, please enjoy this poem I wrote several years ago that seems apropos.

The Quiet Snow Falls

The quiet snow falls,
Some of the world sleeps
Under the new fallen grace
While others flit about
From here to there
Missing the beauty
And serenity of it all.

Time passes them by
In all their busyness
As those who can tolerate
The stillness of it all
Contemplate the meaning
Of it all.
