Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., worked last month to amend a Senate appropriations bill to provide more federal funding for farmers' mental health resources.

Baldwin introduced a bill with Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, that was included in the 2018 Farm Bill approved by the Senate last year. The bill provides funding for local mental health resources to expand access for those working in agriculture.

Last month, the Senate approved an amendment that would provide $8 million for the grant program, an increase of $6 million from fiscal year 2019, according to a statement from Baldwin's office.

"Our Wisconsin farmers are facing many difficult challenges and we all need to work together to provide them the support they need, including more funding for local mental health resources,” Baldwin said in a statement.
