Addiction Medicine Conference Focuses on Partnerships

Healing through Partnerships is the theme for the Wisconsin Society of Addiction Medicine’s 2019 Annual Conference, taking place September 26-27 in Madison. Clinicians across specialties are invited to participate in this two-day, high-impact CME event covering a wide array of topics on prevention, treatment and recovery.

Ryan Westergaard, MD, PhD, MPH will kick off the conference with the opening session, "How to Survive a Plague: What the U.S. Response to AIDS Can Teach Us About the Opioid Epidemic.” Other conference highlights include an overview on law enforcement efforts to curb the opioid epidemic and stop overdose deaths, led by two U.S. Asst. Attorneys based in Wisconsin, and the closing keynote presentation by Julie Willems Van Dijk, Deputy Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, who will address the Department’s priorities for increasing access to addiction treatment and prevention.
