Justin Schoen, MD

I want to start my Spring message with a thank you to all of the people that attended the spring Annual Meeting on Borderline Personality Disorder.  We had over 100 attendees and had robust conversations throughout the conference.

Dr. Saul Levin kicked the event off on Thursday evening talking about the APA and the future of psychiatry, with the rest of the sessions primarily dedicated to providing the best care possible to our patients with BPD.

am excited to share that the large number of residents was palpable, particularly during the clinical vignettes and the inaugural poster session.  It is truly an honor to see the newest members of our profession do such an amazing job.  I am sure that we will be in good hands for years to come

We also had a successful annual business meeting where the slate of candidates was approved for 2019-21 leadership, and successes of the organization were shared.  Some highlights include an increase in membership to the point that we have an additional representative on the APA assembly and an overall improvement in our financial position.  Doctor Schneider, as the incoming President, shared his key points and agenda.  He will do an amazing job and I look forward to seeing all that we accomplish in the years to come.

In the more immediate future, we can look forward to warmer weather and future meetings including the May APA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, and the September 12-13 WPA conference in Milwaukee that will focus on suicide.  I hope to see and talk to you along the way.

Have a wonderful spring!
