Justin Schoen, MD

Hot off of the heels of another successful APA annual meeting, we can return to the next rounds of business.  Hopefully, you were able to make it to New York and enjoy some of the many opportunities that were available.  While the summer is a time to take vacations and relax and hopefully spend some time with friends and family, it is also a time of intense business.

I am pleased to share that we are continuing to move forward with forming a WPA Political Action Committee to work with all of you to strengthen patient care and Psychiatric Practices in the state. We are also continuing to look at possible options for an electronic Balint group, which may be beneficial from a number of perspectives. And, we continue to collaborate with our emergency medicine colleagues through a WPA-WACEP joint Emergency Detention Task Force, which will meet for the third time in May and has created rich dialogue.

Finally, as summer begins I would like to encourage everyone to get outside and enjoy the warm days and fresh air.  There are so many little steps that we can do on a daily basis that can make our patients and ourselves better.

Best wishes,
