The Department of Health Services has received a federal grant to expand a program that provides consultation and referral services to primary care doctors working with children who have behavioral health concerns, according to a Tuesday statement.

The program allows primary care providers in 26 counties to consult with child psychiatrists. It also provides a system for referral to services and offers education and training on mental health conditions.

DHS works with the Medical College of Wisconsin on the program. The $445,000 grant will expand it to 15 additional counties.
