WPA Spring Meeting to Focus on Borderline Personality Disorder

The WPA 2019 Annual Meeting will be held March 14-16 at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake, and will cover a variety of topics and provide important updates in the diagnosis and treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder.

The conference will kick off with a keynote dinner presentation on Thursday featuring Saul Levin, MD, MPA, FRCP-E, CEO and Medical Director of the American Psychiatric Association, who will present on the state of psychiatry in the US. The session will include an open forum during which attendees will have an opportunity to engage in discussion with Doctor Levin, widely known as one of the foremost voices in our specialty. 

Friday and Saturday will cover the themed aspect of conference beginning with an overview of Borderline Personality Disorder, followed by presentations from both national and local experts. APA Past President and BPD expert John Oldham, MD, MS will discuss the diagnosis of BPD and future directions, as well as practice guidelines and an overview of treatment options. WPA will also welcome Daniel Price, MD from Maine Health, who will present on the biological aspects of BPD, and will also lead a two-hour workshop on good psychiatric treatment

The conference will conclude with a workshop discussion the integration of DBT into clinical practice for patients with Borderline Personality Disorder. And, WPA’s Annual Resident Clinical Vignette Competition will occur during the conference in the battle for the esteemed Siggy Award.
