Advocacy

A major strategic goal of the Wisconsin Psychiatric Association is to advocate on behalf of our patients and our profession. The legislative and government agencies significantly impact both our profession and our patients.

Hundreds of laws are introduced each legislative session, and regulatory agencies ensure the resulting rules are followed in practice. It is vital that members of WPA make our voices heard and our positions known, and this can be done in a number of ways:

  • Coordinated lobbying activities through WPA’s contract lobbying firm
  • Grassroots lobbying by contacting your local legislators
  • Testifying before the State Assembly
  • Respond to Legislative Action Alerts and Calls-to-Action from the WPA office
