O'Grady Named Medical Director of My Choice Family Care

WPA Member Joseph O’Grady Jr., MD, has been named Medical Director of My Choice Family Care, which helps frail seniors and adults with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities live more active and independent lives.

Dr. O’Grady is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he has served for 25 years. He is also is the Patient Safety and Quality Officer for the MCW Department of Psychiatry.

“My role at My Choice Family Care will be focused on supporting the nurses and social workers regarding members who have complex psychiatric and medical needs, and ensuring members get quality care,” Dr. O’Grady said. “We’re helping people to live meaningful lives in the community and ensuring they have the support to do that. It’s about quality of life and about being good stewards of the financial supports provided by entitlement programs.”

Dr. O’Grady added that he wanted to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, equity, timeliness, patient safety and person-centered care when providing services to members.

As Medical Director, Dr. O’Grady’s responsibilities will include providing leadership, oversight, and direction in the areas of health care services, quality measures of clinical outcomes and performance, health care information, clinical practice guidelines, health care provider relations and clinical supervision.
